National Park service will mark the closed areas this month and next based on past nesting habits of piping plovers and American oystercatchers. The 2014 pre-nesting maps will be posted no later than March the 15th and April 15th on the parks website under the document list for off-road driving Management plan.
Also on March 15, the Bodie Island Spit seasonal ORV route from 0.2 mile south of Ramp 4 to the inlet will be changed to a seasonal vehicle-free area. The route 0.5 of a mile south of Coquina Beach to 0.2 of a mile south of Ramp 4 remains open to vehicles with access via Ramp 4.
Yesterday was an excellent Drum day on the south beaches. Especially in Frisco.
The boats were out yesterday and brought back one nice Bluefin weighing 570 lbs.
The wind is SW at 13 this morning. The ocean is flat and the water temp is 40 degrees.
