The Drum showed again on the OBX pier on Monday. It was late afternoon and not many fishing at happy hour. It was a big school of fish and plenty were caught. They are catching Drum and Bluefish this morning. Nags Head pier the same. Avalon puffers and Bluefish. Jennette’s pier added Sea Mullet to the mix.
The Little Bridge has Stripers and Trout this morning.
Charter fishing was slow yesterday. A few Yellowfin, Dolphin, a Mako and some Tilefish.
Drum fishing was fair from north beaches yesterday. The beaches on the other side of the Bridge caught Bluefish and Sea Mullet.
Matt Lusk lucked into a nice school of Trout on Sunday in the surf. Matt is a local fisherman and puts together great fishing videos. Here is what Matt had to say. “I lucked into a nice school of trout on Sunday morning in the surf. I caught around 10 on soft plastics. I was all alone until my wife joined me. We were about to leave to go grab a coffee and I made one more cast. Boom! I set the hook and let my 9 months pregnant wife Annie fight the fish. She did a terrific job and I’m very proud of her! I didn’t get any measurements on the fish but it was a beautiful gator trout! She released it and we left with big smiles on our faces. It was really nice to have found trout amongst all the puppy drum”. Good picture.
Tom Gilliam caught a nice Puppy Drum. Tom said he wasn’t paying attention and he saw his rod go over the side. He got it! He was fishing in the basin at the old Coast Guard station.
Jed and Raymond fished from the Miss Hatteras and caught multiple Black Sea Bass, Triggers and a Red Snapper.
Debra caught a sand Shark, 19 in Black Drum, Bluefish and Pompano in the Avon Surf.
Yesterday was quite chilly. It should be a little warmer today with SE wind at 9. The water temp is 57 degrees.
