Surf Fishing Report: Weather was not quite so sunny early with am shower’s but the sun has popped out. Winds were out of the SW at 10 and have shifted to NW at 15. Beach fishermen are still pulling in some nice puppy drum and sea mullet. South beaches reported sea mullet, pompano, puppy drum and black drum.
Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported some spot and croaker with early catches of small flounder and speckled trout.
Sound charters reported some good catches of puppy drum and speckled trout.
Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Small spot and sea mullet. Water temp is 53. Brrrrr
Nags Head: Slow this am, no one fishing early. Water temp is 54.
Jennette’s: Few skate. Water temp is 54. Chilly!
Outer Banks: Sea mullet and spots. Water temp is 59.
Water temps will warm back up quickly once the wind calms or shift around to the east.
Inshore Boats/Nearshore Report:
Cobia fishing was slow yesterday especially with the lack of sun for sighting those brown beauties! Continued great catches of Spanish and blues. Puppy drum fishing closer to shore is still awesone. Sheepshead biting around Oregon Inlet bridge and on some of the piers.
Offshore Boats Report:
Wind and rain slowed fishing up a bit yesterday but charters still brought in nice catches of dolphin and yellowfin. Also a couple of whites were released! The Big Rock Marlin Tournament out of Morehead started yesterday. Leading boat is the Inspiration with a blue marlin weighing 754.3 pounds. Way to go!
