Surf Fishing Report:
Beautiful morning with a peek of sunshine and light winds out of the SSE. Fishing yesterday improved quite a bit with water temp rising over 10 degrees. Great catches of puppy drum, sea mullet, some spot and blues. Oregon Inlet had nice runs of puppy drum. South beaches reported big bluefish, pompano (one weighing 2 lbs 9 oz) WOW, sea mullet and spot. Corolla with catches of puppy drum, sea mullet and spot.
Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway continues to have action with the small speckled trout, black drum, spot and croaker. SOON we can keep some of those trout starting June 15th.
Sound charters pulling in some small flounder, puppy drum, sea mullet, speckled trout and croaker.
Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Puppy drum. Water temp is 65. Much better!
Nags Head: Sea mullet and small spot. Water temp is 61.
Jennette’s: Couple of blues. Water temp is 61.
Outer Banks: Few sea mullet and skate. Couple of great runs of puppy drum yesterday with all angler catching a keeper EXCEPT Gary Oliver, he tried but couldn’t catch one. HaHa. Just kidding. Water temp is 64.
Inshore Boats/Nearshore Report:
More cobia being sighted out of Oregon Inlet but not a lot of catches. Most of the fish are still south of Rodanthe with some nice fish boated. The inshore gang are keeping um coming with non-stop spanish and bluefish action and a few hammerheads (just for fun)! Continued great puppy drum action. Sheepshead around the Oregon Inlet bridge.
Offshore Boats Report:
Calm and quiet morning with light winds out of the SSE. No rain this morning but a chance this afternoon. Yesterday was sizzling with temp. and fish caught. Yellowfin tuna are BITING with several boats bringing in limits. Also some nice gaffer dolphin, smaller dolphin and citation Bigeyes! A couple white marlin releases out of Oregon Inlet and a few more down south. The Big Rock Marlin Tournament out of Morehead started Monday. “Inspiration” is still leading with their 754.3 pounds blue marlin.
