To answer the question about beach driving and permits.
To begin with, take your tires down to 25 lbs. You can drive in Corolla north and south of the gate in off season, only north in season starting May 1st. You cannot drive in Kitty Hawk or Southern Shores at anytime. The Nags Head permit and the Kill Devil Hills permit has been combined into one. When you purchase a Nags Head Beach Permit, it will also include Kill Devil Hills. The cost remains at $25.00. They can be purchase from Nags Head Town Office or TW’s Tackle in Nags Head. The permit is good from Oct 1st to May. You can drive our National Parks if you have a permit. A yearly permit is $120.00 and weekly is $50.00.
Surf Fishing Report:
Plenty of Bluefish, Black Drum and Trout, most of them are throwbacks. This morning the water is calm and clear and hardly any wind.
The winds are SW at 5 and the water temp is 66 degrees.
Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported small Trout and Stripers.
Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: 5 Red Drum, lots of Blues on artificial lures. Plenty of bait in the water.
Nags Head: Small Trout and plenty of Blues using Got’chas.
Jennette’s: Bluefish, Gray Trout and Puffers.
Outer Banks: Bluefish, Black Drum, Trout and Sea Mullet.
Inshore Boats/Nearshore Report:
Inshore Anglers had a wide variety of catches, Bluefish, Sea Mullet, Gray Trout and Shark. There were also plenty of Red Drum releases. Nearshore continues catches a substantial amount of Bluefish. Miss Oregon Inlet anglers caught Spot, Croakers, Puffers, Sea Mullet, Sea Bass, Flounder and Blues. Pirates Cove Marina reported there inlet boat caught there limits of Stripers.
Offshore Boats Report:
The fleet caught loads of Blackfin and a 165 lb Big-eye Tuna. There were scattered catches of Yellowfin and Dolphin.
