The weather is HOT
and so is the fishing!
Puppy Drum fishing on the sound side continues to be very good! Inshore Boats, Kayakers, and Wade fisherman fishing near Oregon Inlet are catching lots of Drum and scattered Speckled Trout. We have even heard reports of a few Citation size Drum in the mix for the guys bait fishing! Elizabeth and Mike got on an epic bite wade fishing behind the lighthouse the other day. Mike caught his first ever Drum followed by many more!
With the hard Southwest wind the water near the beach has cooled off significantly from upwelling. As a result Surf and Pier fishing has slowed down a bit the last few days, however there has still been a few Bluefish, Puppy Drum, Sea Mullet, and Ribbonfish caught.
Offshore, fishing has picked back up with a very good Tuna bite for the boats kite fishing. Unfortunately it sounds like the sharks have also returned… The boats not wanting to fight the sharks for their Tuna have been finding a decent amount of Dolphin, Wahoo, and Tilefish.
