TW’s Daily Fishing Report

Friday, September 9, 2022

Drum season is here on the Outer Banks! Big Drum have been in the Sound, the Surf, and caught off the Piers the last couple days. We heard a report this morning there has been over 50 Big Drum caught on a couple of the piers in the last 24 hours! Come in and grab Fresh Mullet of all sizes, plenty of custom Heavers from Nick’s Custom Rods, and all of the top casting reels are in stock! Now is the time to head to your local Outer Banks pier and get in on the hot Red Drum action!

The strong NE winds have kept the offshore fleet at the dock, and also made for tough Surf fishing conditions everywhere north of Cape Point. Down south around the point there has been reports of Drum, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, False Albacore, and Sea Mullet from the surf.

Although the wind makes it tough, soundside fishing has been good. Lots of Big Drum, Puppy Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Croaker and Bluefish. Britton Stewart sent us a picture of a beautiful Drum she caught soaking baits in the sound near Oregon Inlet!
