Now is the time to get out there and do some fishing on the Outer Banks! The onshore winds this week have given the Outer Banks its first taste of Fall Fishing! Lots of bait in the surf as the Mullet begin migrating down the beaches, coupled with decent weather, has made for some very good surf fishing! We have heard reports of Drum of all sizes up and down the beachs! Along with the awesome Drum fishing, there has been reports of Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, False Albacore, Pompano, Flounder, Spot, Croaker, and even a few Speckled Trout in the Surf.
Soundside fishing remains spectacular with more Trout starting to show up. There has also been plenty of Puppy Drum, Big Drum, and even some big Flounder. Don’t forget Flounder season is very limited, if you want your shot at a nice Flounder this season stop in the shop and get rigged up. We have plenty of rigs, bait, and even gigs!
Piers have had similar reports as the surf with plenty of Drum, Bluefish, Sea Mullet, Spot Croaker, Sharks, and Rays. However the Spanish Mackerel and False Albacore bite on the piers has been very good! Anglers are using Got-cha plugs and Glass Minnows and having success. Last night we had our first Spanish Mackerel weighed in for the Spanish Mackerel segment of our Coastal Tournament Series at 2.25lbs by Fisher Midgett!
Offshore fishing has picked up a little with some boats finding a handful of Billfish each day! There has been plenty of Dolphin, Wahoo, and a handful of Tuna as well!
