The strong winds and heavy surf have made for difficult fishing conditions, however some anglers have fought through it and been successful! There has been a handful of Big Drum caught from the surf south of Rodanthe and down on the point. Connor Johnson sent us a picture of a really nice 41.5 inch Drum he caught yesterday near Ramp 30 yesterday! We have also heard reports of Bluefish, Sea Mullet, Spot, Puppy Drum, Black Drum, and Sheepshead from the surf. When the winds are blowing hard from the NE it can be a good time to head south to ramps 44 through 55. In these conditions on a south facing beach the ocean will not be so rough.
On the piers we have heard of a good run of Spot, a few Bluefish, and plenty of Sharks.
On the soundside those who have ventured out have caught some Puppy Drum, Trout, and Stripers. We heard the Trout bite was decent at Little Bridge this morning, hopefully tomorrow morning will be just as good!
