TW’s Daily Fishing Report

Sunday, July 9, 2023

We hope everyone enjoyed this beautiful week of weather and good fishing! Looks like the Billfish have begun to show up in good numbers! It’s been slower than usual the last couple of summers, so it’s nice to see some flags flying at the docks! Fin Planner Sportfishing had a really good day on Friday, releasing a Blue Marlin, two White Marlin, and four Sailfish! Along with the good Billfishing, the offshore fleet has also seen good catches of Dolphin, Tilefish, and a handful of Yellowfin!

On the sound side, we have continued to receive reports of Big Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Bluefish, and slot Red Drum. Captain Brian King of Reelistic Charters, sent us in some photos of a Big Drum one of his clients caught on a recent trip!

Spanish Mackerel have begun to show up in the Surf! We weighed one that was nearly a citation this morning caught by Paul Kuhns! Along with the Spanish, we have also seen decent catches of Bluefish, Sea Mullet, Spot, and a handful of Pompano.

The piers have been catching quite the assortment of species lately. Jennettes Pier has reported Sea Mullet, Spot, Flounder, Croaker, Pigfish, Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Sea Bass, and even a 49.1lb King Mackerel in just the last 3 days! There also was a nice keeper Cobia landed on Nags Head Pier the other day.
