Fishing Report
This week was the 42nd Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament! There were lots of White Marlin caught, but the big Blue Marlin stole the show. Congrats to the winners, Deep Color, with a boated 806.2 lb Blue Marlin. Marsh Madness placed second and had an incredible catch with a 878 lb boated Blue Marlin. Third place went to Catch 23 with a total of 3 Blue Marlin, 10 White Marlin, and 1 Sailfish! We’re already looking forward to next year! @piratescovebillfishtournament
There have also been plenty of fish caught from the surf and piers! There have been a lot of Spot and Sea Mullet caught the last few days. The Drum fishing has been a little bit slower this week, but Luke Coleman was able to get a nice 48 inches on OBX pier! We also heard of a keeper Cobia caught on Jennettes yesterday.
The nearshore and soundside anglers have had reports of some good fishing as well! There have been a bunch of False Albacore, Bluefish, Spanish, Triggerfish, and Mahi. The Trout fishing is still going strong in the sound as well. With the impending weather predictions, the soundside fishing is going to be the best bet this week. Hopefully Hurricane Erin will stay far away, but if conditions deteriorate, we’d suggest heading to fishable areas in the sound. It should be good Drum fishing if anglers are able to safely fish! @saltywatersobxfishing @mott_ridge_charters
Can week also take a minute to shout out @finplannersportfishing! While they may have been up north, we’re stoked to see Captain Chris Gornell doing some epic fishing! He had 2 Blue Marlin and 42 White Marlin his first overnight and 1 Blue Marlin and 44 Whites on another overnight!
