The weather on the Outer Banks has been almost as good as the fishing here lately! Cobia fishing and Tuna fishing out of Oregon Inlet continue to be as good as it gets! We have weighed a lot of citation sized cobia here at the shop the last couple days, even the Kayak anglers have gotten in on the action.
Surf fishing has been fairly decent with anglers reporting good catches of Sea Mullet, Puppy Drum, Bluefish, and Sharks. Down south the Point in Buxton has officially closed to driving for the season, however we heard the Spanish Mackerel bite was very good for those that walked out to the point the last couple days.
Cobia Cobia and more Cobia for the nearshore fleet, with the the occasional school of big Red Drum. There has also been decent catches of Spanish Mackerel and a few Ribbonfish by the guys trolling with spoons near the beach.
The offshore fleet has had some of the best Tuna fishing we have seen in a while this week out of Oregon Inlet. Boats out of Hatteras have reported good catches of Dolphin, a few Wahoo, and a decent amount of Billfish Releases!
Inshore boats and Kayak anglers fishing in the sound are still finding those schools of Drum and scattered Speckled Trout. We even heard Little Bridge had a decent run of Trout this morning at first light.
