Great fishing continues here on the Outer Banks! It’s starting to feel like fall with all of the Big Drum showing up near the Inlets. Both Oregon Inlet and Hatteras Inlet have had a fair amount of Drum this past week. Along with the Big Drum there has been no shortage of Slot size Drum and Speckled Trout. Anglers fishing Spoons, Soft Plastics, and Bait have all been having success.
The fishing on the local piers was red hot over the weekend. Multiple King Mackerel and Cobia were landed on both Nags Head and Jennettes Piers by the anglers live bait fishing on the end. There has also been a fair amount of Spanish, Bluefish, Sheepshead, Flounder, Sea Mullet, and a bunch of small Croakers. If you are looking to get rigged up for a successful day of pier fishing stop in and talk with our knowledgeable staff!
Offshore fishing improved over the weekend with boats finding limits of Dolphin and a plenty of Wahoo. There has also been reports of Tuna and a handful of Billfish. As we begin to approach fall the fishing should only continue to improve.
Only 20 days until the TW’s Coastal Tournament Series begins, so make sure to stop in and get signed up! Just a quick update on the tournament, Anglers who pay to fish the Red Drum tournament only, or the entire series, will be provided with a bump board to be used for measuring and photos!
